The so-called gaming wars between consoles and PCs have changed significantly in recent years, with more games crossing over between platforms and arriving on PC. The majority of the Yakuza game series is about to join them, coming to PC and Xbox One for the first time.
Initially, gamers who wanted to play Yakuza from start to finish had to play the games on a PS4, with only Yakuza 0, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2 making the jump to PC and Xbox One. However, that's about to change, as Sega has now announced that the Yakuza Remastered Collection and Yakuza 6 are both coming to PC and Xbox One in 2021.

The Yakuza Remastered Collection, which contains remastered copies of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5, will become available for players on PC via Steam, and Xbox One as purchases or Xbox Game Pass titles starting on January 28, 2021. Gamers who quickly devour those three titles won't have to wait long for the final chapter of Kazuma Kiryu, as Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will release on March 25, 2021 for PC and Xbox.
We’re excited to announce that the entire mainline Kiryu Yakuza saga will soon be available on Xbox Game Pass, Windows 10, and Steam!

With this announcement, the entire core Yakuza series will soon be available on PC and Xbox, giving fans a chance to enjoy the games from start to finish. Notably absent from the list of prior PlayStation-exclusive western releases is Yakuza: Dead Souls, which received a mixed reception upon release for the PS3. However, the list of available PC and Xbox games also includes the recent Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which pivots away from the original series story and follows a new protagonist. The decision to bring these games to new systems is in-keeping with Sega's prior discussions on the matter, where it highlighted that it was interested in bringing more titles to PC that had previously only been available on consoles, like Persona 4.
While the majority of these games stem from the PS3 era, fans who haven't tried these games before will likely find something to enjoy here. Bringing these Yakuza games to PC and Xbox also means that they will be available in 1080p and will run at 60 FPS. Releasing for the PC may also open the doors for graphical overhaul mods from the fans, though time will tell if any such projects are released by the community at large.

The news of the full set of Yakuza games coming to PC and Xbox can only mean good things for the 15-year-old series, which has recently seen a major increase in sales following the release of Like a Dragon in Japan. Though fans are still waiting to see what's next for the Yakuza game series, going forward, PC and Xbox players can likely expect any future releases to also arrive promptly - if not simultaneously - which will undoubtedly drive sales even further for Sega.
